The International Women’s Club of Mérida was founded in 1984 by a few English-speaking women from different parts of the world living in Mérida.

Sponsor four Scholars – Buy books, supplies, computers for women continuing their education
Provide Medicine to a free clinic in Baca, Yucatán
Staff the annual CAAY Art Exposition and Sale
Visit homebound women for camaraderie
“Despensas” (provisions) – Supplied 200 families and 20 “Abandonados” (homeless) every two weeks for six months at the outset of the pandemic
Monthly Member events:
- 1st Tuesday: Coffee at a member’s home
- 2nd Wednesday: “Hi!! Tea” at a member’s home
- 3rd Thursday: Brunch at a hotel
- 4th Saturday: General Meeting
Book Group – Read and discuss books selected by the group
Explorer’s Club – organize occasional day trips and more distant travel (e.g., Puebla), when feasible. Beach day outings (during “Yellow Phase” in Yucatán)
Annual Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance with live music. Anniversary Dinner with DJ.
Support charities helping children – Chili Cook-off fundraiser in partnership with other local organizations.
Provide donations, volunteers, and gifts for Estancia Nueva Vida after school program for girls.
We are always seeking enthusiastic members to help identify worthy community service projects, plan member groups and activities.
