Our Scholarship Program has been a mainstay of IWC Mérida almost since its beginning in 1984. Its original name was The Gretchen Estrup Memorial Scholarship Fund, commemorating the life of a much beloved founding member of the IWC, who was a lifelong champion of the advancement of women.
We provide financial assistance and mentoring to several young women each year who are pursuing higher education. Scholarships are awarded according to criteria established by a Committee of five members created by the IWC Board, with the President appointing the Chair. The Committee’s work covers two areas:
- An administrative group that selects the students
- The mentorship module that assists the students with their personal and professional development
